The Transition Tree

The Transition Tree
The  transition  tree is a  cause-effect planning  tool  that helps in drawing a detailed action plan in order  to be sure  that  the desired goal will be achieved.  It is a  tool  through which  the initiator  can follow  the  action  plan with  clear  perception  of what  to  expect  along  the  route,  and why.
The transition tree  is one of the thinking processes in the Theory of Constraints. This is a thinking process beneficial in building a plan, which is completely based on the instigator’s actions.  This  technique  results  in  close  inspection  of  actions  required  to  bring  about  the desired change, and avoid depending on those actions that are considered the next immediate step without actually benefiting the overall plan. The transitions signify the stages where the initiator moves from the present  state  to  the desired goal. While drawing  the  transition  tree, one’s  focus  should be on what we wish to achieve rather than what we plan to do to reach our goals.
With certain exceptions, the transition tree is similar to the future reality tree. Future reality tree is a planning  tool used  to presume  the outcome of  some actions  toward achieving a desired goal. The transition  tree  is not  about  presumptions  and  clearly  builds  a  detailed  action  plan  to  reach the desired  goal.    It  follows  a  simple  recurring  logic  of  “if,  then“  links which  include  the  action,  the reason behind the action and the need for the action.
